| Dan has spent the last
four years putting his experience as an innovative and seasoned
business executive to work to deliver results for our community
and citizens. Through honest, open and effective leadership
Dan has led the effort on a number of key issues to improve
our community:
- Led the effort to establish design standards in the downtown
core. Not only for adaptive reuse of existing buildings,
but as a revitalization tool for redevelopment.
- Led the effort to raise more than $4M through private
donations to purchase 1270 & 1300 Foster Dr. (formerly
the YMCA) to be converted into a community center for the
benefit of all Reno residents.
- Guided the efforts of the Historic Resources Commission
to establish the Powning Addition Conservation District,
only the 26th such district in the United States.
- Worked to increase the installation of enhance lighting
of West Fourth Street, Arlington Avenue and a pilot project
on South Virginia Street.
- Responsible for initiating the request for the city to
hire a City Architect, whose responsibility is to oversee
and advise the redevelopment staff and community development
department regarding design standards and historic resources
in the city.
